5th pedestrian hit by vehicle in less than a week in Bakersfield
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) Another pedestrian has been hurt in a crash, this one around 8 p.m. Wednesday on Oildale Drive near Roberts Lane.
This marks the fifth pedestrian crash in less than a week in Bakersfield. Three of the crashes were fatal.
The California Highway Patrol said a 60-year-old man was hit by a Honda Civic while he crossed the street. The man, whose name was withheld, reportedly suffered serious injuries.
Other crashes since Friday:
A woman died after being hit by a car in central Bakersfield, the Kern County coroner's office said late Tuesday. Police said the woman, identified by the coroner's office as Kimberly Felice Berry, was crossing the street when she was hit by a Mazda sedan driven by a 20-year-old man.
A pedestrian died Monday after he was hit by an SUV in central Bakersfield. The crash happened around 9 a.m. when 63-year-old Timothy Walker was crossing Union Avenue near 9th Street.
A 28-year-old Bakersfield woman was hospitalized Saturday after being hit by a car while crossing California Avenue, just west of Union. Police said Jessica Thompson stepped in front of a Nissan sedan as the driver was westbound on Union making a right turn onto California.
A Tehachapi woman, 60-year-old Neva Yribarren, was killed Friday afternoon when she was hit by a truck in Oildale. The truck's driver made a turn at the intersection of Merle Haggard Drive and McCray Street and struck the woman in the crosswalk, the CHP said.
