Coroner ID's body pulled from river weir near park

OILDALE, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) - A man's body was pulled from the Kern River Weir near Riverview Park on Saturday afternoon.

The coroner's office Wednesday identified the man as 31-year-old Jesse Richard Zendejas. The cause of death determination is pending toxicological studies, the coroner's office said.

Bakersfield police said it wasn't immediately known how long he'd been in the water, but foul play was not immediately suspected.

According to a BPD news release, search-and-rescue personnel from the Kern County Sheriff's Office were called to help get the body out of the water.
