Driver rescued after Truxtun Lake crash

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) A white pickup crashed Monday morning into Truxtun Lake, prompting a rescue operation.

Bakersfield Police Sgt. Scott Thatcher said the crash happened around 6:45 a.m.

Witnesses told police the driver was eastbound on Truxtun Avenue, and the driver's tire made contact with the curb. The driver, who appeared to be a man in his 50s or 60s, veered across both lanes and plunged into the lake, according to witnesses.

Rescue personnel worked to extricate the man, who was trapped inside the pickup.

The man sustained minor injuries, according to police.
