Homicide detectives called to northwest neighborhood

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) - A report of a shooting Sunday afternoon in a quiet northwest Bakersfield neighborhood was followed by homicide detectives being sent out.

The initial report at around 1:40 p.m. was that a man had shot his grandmother in a home in the 10900 block of Mohican Drive.

"I can offer no info at this time," said Lt. Andrew Garner with Bakersfield police by telephone a few minutes after the initial 911 call.

A few minutes after the first police officers arrived, a man was taken into custody.

Sunday night, police said 19-year-old Dylan McNabb had been arrested on suspicion of murder, though they didn't say what evidence they have against him or what his relationship is to the woman who died.
