Kern County deputy accused of sexual battery makes court debut
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) A Kern County deputy accused of touching young women inappropriately was arraigned in court Monday.
Deputy Gabriel Lopez, 26, is accused of sexual battery against two separate women in back-to-back days last month.
Lopez allegedly improperly touched an 18-year-old woman March 26 at her Tehachapi home while on duty and responding to a call of a peace disturbance. He allegedly told the woman he needed to search her for weapons and drugs, the sheriff's office said last week.
The deputy was first accused of sexually assaulting a 21-year-old Tehachapi woman during a burglary investigation March 25.
