Lawsuit over Delano utility rates goes before judge
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) A lawsuit over a utility rate increase in Delano got its day in court Monday.
The suit claims that Delano residents did not receive proper notification about the fee hike. The city is challenging the lawsuit.
The increase would raise customer bills by an average of 75 percent over the next five years, according to the Delano Guardians Committee, which is making the complaint against the city. Eyewitness News tried confirming that figure with the city but did not get a response as of this publishing.
The attorneys in the case said the judge likely won't make a ruling for more than a month.
