Man killed in a rollover crash off Bear Mtn. Blvd. near I-5

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) - A solo-vehicle rollover crash late Sunday afternoon on Bear Mountain Boulevard has killed the vehicle's driver.

The crash was reported to the California Highway Patrol around 4:37 p.m., and, a short time later, the driver and apparent sole occupant was pronounced dead by first-responders. The coroner's office Monday identified the driver as 20-year-old Jose Alfredo Ramirez.

A CHP officer at the scene said for unknown reasons Ramirez lost control of his vehicle, which appears to be a small pickup truck, and ran off the roadway and rolled over into a ditch just west of the on-ramp to southbound Interstate 5 on Bear Mountain Boulevard.

Ramirez was trapped inside the truck and had to be cut out by a Kern County fire crew.
