Math teacher takes plea deal for student sex
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) A teacher accused of sexual encounters with a number of students entered a plea Friday in Kern County court.
Amber Failla was arrested last year at her Tehachapi home. The California City High School math teacher allegedly performed oral sex on boys between the ages of 14 and 17.
Failla pleaded no contest to one count of unlawful sexual intercourse, and multiple counts of oral copulation and contacting a minor with the intent to commit a sexual offense were dismissed.
Failla is scheduled for sentencing in May.
Court documents obtained by Eyewitness News include an allegation that Failla would send text messages to students one by one to come to her classroom between class times. Once there, Failla would orally pleasure the students, according to court papers.
Police also said students reported that Failla had been "sexting" nude photographs of herself to students. California City police searched Failla's home and reported they seized computers and cellphones.
