McFarland man allegedly stabs mom's boyfriend

McFARLAND, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) - A man has been arrested for allegedly stabbing his mother's boyfriend over the weekend.

McFarland police said Tuesday that 21-year-old Edwin Hernandez was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. Hernandez was apprehended after an intense search and brief standoff, according to police.

The stabbing occurred Saturday. Police didn't say when Hernandez was arrested.

Hernandez allegedly stabbed his mother's boyfriend in the stomach and neck. The 36-year-old boyfriend, whose name was withheld, suffered a severed artery in the neck and a punctured liver but underwent successful surgery, police said.

Police didn't say what prompted the alleged attack.

Hernandez's 30-year-old girlfriend, Naomi Fernandez, was also taken into custody on suspicion of being an accessory to the crime.
