Ridgecrest man arrested in Tehachapi after chase, alleged drug tossing

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) A Ridgecrest man was arrested early Thursday for alleged drug possession and evading and resisting an officer.

Michael Pate, 27, was contacted by Kern County deputies around 1:30 a.m. at the Love's Travel Stop in Tehachapi. The deputies found he was on active probation, and Pate then refused orders from deputies and led them on a short pursuit, the sheriff's office said.

During the chase, Pate allegedly tossed approximately a half pound of methamphetamine from his vehicle.

The chase ended at Highway 58, exit 151, and East Tehachapi Boulevard.
