Seeds of Inspiration community garden opens in downtown Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Tuesday for the Seeds of Inspiration community garden.

The downtown garden, on city-owned lots at the coroner of Eye and 4th streets, is designed to improve the community and provide produce at a low cost, according to the Keep Bakersfield Beautiful Committee.

The garden will also host cooking classes, recipe exchanges and yoga classes, according to organizers.

Around 200 volunteers and several sponsors worked a year to build the garden.
