      Sinkhole that closed Planz Road is now fixed

      UPDATE: The sinkhole has been fixed, and Planz Road was open again Thursday morning. California Water Service spokesman Rudy Valles said the sinkhole was caused by a 10-inch water main that was leaking and caused what he called a "void" under the street.

      BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) A portion of Planz Road was closed to traffic Wednesday afternoon after a sinkhole developed.

      Eyewitness News was awaiting a return call from the city's Public Works Department for additional information.

      The east-west running road was closed between Benton and McCourry, in front of Planz Elementary School.
