Woman wants junk removed from south Bakersfield lot

{A href=""}BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) A local woman is upset about the trash, old furniture and appliances that are collecting near an area of South Union Avenue between Barton Street and McKee Road.

She said Friday that she passes it on her daily commute and feels that it needs to be cleaned up.

She made a call to the county for help, but she said it didn't offer her much assistance.

"They said I needed to go on their website and go to their county maps and figure out what parcel number it was before they would even take my complaint," said Betsy Maring.

The lot is private property, so the issue would be handled by county Code Compliance.

Maring said it's not her job to find the parcel number, and that she is doing her part by calling when it's really bad to see if it can get cleaned up.

"I don't dump trash," she said.

Dave Wasserman with Code Compliance said they will send an officer out to the site on Monday and will likely have a contractor come and haul the junk away.
