      Bakersfield doctor has medical license suspended after court conviction

      {A href="http://www.bakersfieldnow.com/search?q=Bakersfield"}BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) A doctor had his license suspended July 15 after pleading guilty in federal court to a felony charge of distributing a controlled substance.

      The Medical Board of California pulled Gonzalo Flores Ruiz's license for handing out prescriptions of hydrocodone for no legitimate reason. Ruiz was a doctor at Central Valley Occupational Medical Group.

      According to court records, he was sentenced in April to 30 months in prison and 60 months of supervised release. A judge also recommended he participate in a substance abuse treatment program during his stay in prison.
