1 killed in south Bakersfield shooting

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) One man has died after a shooting at a 7-Eleven in south Bakersfield.

It happened early Thursday in the parking lot of the store located at 1701 Pacheco Road.

Police said they responded to reports of shots fired and found two people who had been shot while sitting in a parked vehicle. One of them died after being taken to a hospital. The other reportedly suffered minor injuries.

An hour earlier, police responded to a shooting victim found in an alley at Pacheco and Monitor. That victim's injuries were described as moderate.

The shots in the convenience store parking lot were fired from another vehicle that had pulled up alongside the victim's vehicle, police said. It was described only as dark in color.

The person killed was identified only as a 40-year-old.
