20 to become citizens next month in Bakersfield ceremony

{A href=""}BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) Twenty Kern County residents will become naturalized U.S. citizens May 3.

Officials with the Fresno office of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services will come to Bakersfield for a swearing-in ceremony. The soon-to-be American citizens hail from Mexico, El Salvador, Venezuela, Syria, Korea, the Philippines, the Dominican Republic and Peru, according to immigration officials.

The ceremony takes place at 11:10 a.m. that day at the Bakersfield Adult School, 501 S. Mt. Vernon Ave.
