8 people arrested in overnight DUI checkpoint
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) —
The Bakersfield Police Department arrested eight people during a DUI checkpoint on Friday night.
The checkpoint took place from 7 p.m. until 2 a.m. on the 1400 block of Calloway Drive.
Around 1,668 vehicles were screened by officers, and 11 drivers were detained to be further evaluated to determine their sobriety level, according to the BPD.
Officers arrested five drivers for allegedly being under the influence of alcohol, one driver for allegedly driving under the influence of drugs, one person on suspicion of public intoxication, and one person for an outstanding warrant.
Another 22 drivers were cited for having no drivers license or driving on a suspended license.
