AAA expects 107 million Americans to travel over holidays
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) —
The holiday rush is going to snarl roads.
According to AAA, 107.3 million Americans plan to travel by planes, trains and automobiles between Christmas and New Year's Day. That's a 3.1 percent increase compared to last year.
A majority of those travelers, 97.4 million, are going to be on the road.
The Waze traffic app determines Dec. 23 between 3-5 p.m. to be the worst time to travel. The best time is Christmas Day.
The app also shows New Year's Day doesn't register as having any more or less traffic than usual.
AAA suggests the best time to leave is early mornings when there will be fewer drivers on the road. If you're flying, you should arrive at least two hours prior to your departing time.
