Abuser who used duct tape on toddlers gets 180 days in jail
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) - The man accused of binding young children with duct tape was sentenced Friday to 180 days in Kern County jail and four years probation.
Jose Picazo was arrested in December after twin toddlers were found with duct tape covering their mouths and tape holding their hands behind their backs. Picazo reportedly took the action to keep the 14-month-old children from crying and fighting.
Picazo's wife, Soradia Carabantes, was also arrested for failing to protect the children. A misdemeanor arrignment has been scheduled for her on Jan. 28.
Picazo pleaded no contest Friday in court to two midemeanor counts of willful cruelty to a child before he was sentenced.
