No gunman found after Arvin High School locked down
ARVIN, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) —
The lockdown is over at Arvin High School after no gunman was found.
The Kern High School District police chief said there apparently never was a gunman. The chief said unfounded rumors of an active shooter, hostages and more were fueled by social media.
The reports prompted a lockdown and large law enforcement response.
A video sent to Eyewitness News by one student, Alex Zavala, shows deputies with rifles conducting a campus sweep as students take cover.
Students were released early.
