Arvin police: 15-year-old boy arrested for string of armed robberies

Arvin police arrested 15-year-old boy Thursday night as a suspect in a string of armed robberies.

The suspect's name was withheld, given that he's not an adult.

Police said five business robberies were reported Thursday afternoon and evening. Arvin Dollar Mart, Canton's Chinese Restaurant, Zapateria Shoe Store, Alshaif Market and Ismali Market were hit.

The suspect was found just before 11 p.m. in the parking lot of a Fastrip gas station on Bear Mountain Boulevard, and officers caught him after a chase. The teen was found with money and a loaded gun.

Police said they believe this boy is responsible for several robberies last week, too.

Police are still trying to determine if there are any other suspects.
