Bear Valley police: Woman arrested for embezzlement

BEAR VALLEY SPRINGS, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) - A former clerk for the Bear Valley Springs Association has been arrested on suspicion of embezzlement and grand theft.

Michelle Haughton, the group's former accounts receivable clerk, is accused of embezzling more than $2,000.

Police said the group "discovered several inappropriate fiduciary transactions" in October, and Haughton then resigned.

The Kern County District Attorney's Office reviewed the case, and an arrest warrant was issued. Haughton was arrested the day after Christmas in Golden Hills.
