Body pulled from central Bakersfield canal
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) —
Authorities have recovered the body of a woman from a canal at Oak and 21st streets.
Officials say they received the call around 4:30 p.m. Monday. When firefighters arrived, they were unable to locate the person, so they moved farther down stream. There, they saw the body.
Crews were able to pull the body out within five minutes, but paramedics on scene determined nothing could be done to save the woman's life, Bakersfield Fire Department Battalion Chief John Frando said.
The identity of the woman has not yet been released.
This the fourth body to be found in the canal within the last two weeks.
