Breckenridge fire held to 35 acres
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) —
A grass fire east of Bakersfield has been contained at 35 acres, according to the Kern County Fire Department.
Capt. Jason Knaggs said such fires are spreading quickly this season because of a large amount of tall grass after the wet winter. Steep slopes posed a challenge in battling this grass fire, near Breckenridge Road and Tarina Court.
Three homes were initially threatened. There were no injuries, and no property was damaged.
Firefighters haven't' said what sparked the fire, but they're investigating a burned–out car in the area.
