Child porn, exploitation suspect ordered to home incarceration

FRESNO, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) An Arvin man accused of "sexploitation" crimes involving underage girls pleaded not guilty Monday in a federal courtroom in Fresno.

It was the first court appearance for 25-year-old Brian Caputo, who faces one count each of sexually exploiting a minor and receiving and distributing child pornography.

He faces 15-30 years in prison for sexual exploitation and five to 20 years for soliciting child porn, if convicted.

Currently in custody, Caputo is expected to be released to his mother on Friday. He will live with her at the Arvin residence where he was arrested, and he'll be placed under "home incarceration" that will prohibit him from using any computers or cellphones.

Caputo's mother's underage daughter will be forced to move from the residence, as Caputo is ordered to stay away from minors.

He was arrested Feb. 28, accused of posing as a girl online, creating fake social media accounts to "convince" underage girls as young as 11 years old to send him nude photos.

According to court documents, he admitted to threatening girls if they did not send him the photographs.

FBI officials tracked emails and an IP address to Caputo's Arvin address, where they found thousands of sexually explicit pictures and videos of young girls on Caputo's cellphone and email account, the documents state.
