Community of Taft rallies to help a sick girl, family
TAFT, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) The community is rallying around a very sick 14-year-old girl.
Erica Pommerville, of Taft, suffered a massive stroke recently and is currently undergoing a series of brain surgeries at UCSF Medical Center in San Francisco.
Doctors tell her family that Erica is finally out of her medically induced coma, but the road to recovery will be very long.
A yard sale was held Saturday in Taft with all the proceeds going to Erica's recovery. A steady flow of people attended. Some shopped, some donated items and others simply gave money.
Donation containers have been placed around the city of Taft as well.
There was also a dinner planned Saturday night at the Taft Petroleum Club, where all proceeds will be donated towards Erica's medical expenses.
A trust account has also been set up at Bank of America. Donations can be made at any branch for the care of Erica Pommerville.
