Congressman McCarthy weighs in on bullet trains, jobs
Rep. Kevin McCarthy stopped by Eyewitness News on Tuesday evening to preview a visit by House Speaker John Boehner to announce emergency drought legislation.
While he was in studio, Eyewitness News also asked the majority whip about his views on the California high-speed rail project and jobs and unemployment.
McCarthy doesn't support the high-speed rail effort, saying the state plan doesn't meet what was promised to voters. "My challenge is, why throw more bad money after it?" McCarthy said.
McCarthy on HSR:
With extended unemployment stalled in the Capitol, McCarthy said Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has stood in the way of a jobs package that would have made "a fundamental difference."
