County health officials announce free, low-cost flu-shot clinics

Flu season is nearly here, and Kern County Public Health Services is encouraging people to shield themselves with the flu vaccine.

The county said there are a number of low-cost and free shot clinics coming along in the weeks ahead. Dignity Health and Adventist Health are also offering free flu-shot clinics.

The county said no-charge clinics are planned for:

  • 7 a.m. to noon Oct. 15, Kern County Fairgrounds Swap Meet
  • 5-8 p.m. Oct. 27, Hosking Avenue Swap Meet


People can get $9 shots on a walk-in basis at these times and locations:

  • 8-11 a.m. and 1-3 p.m. beginning Oct. 2, Public Health Services Building, 1800 Mt. Vernon Ave., Bakersfield
  • 9-11 a.m. and 1-3 p.m. Wednesdays from Oct. 4 through Nov. 29, Arvin Public Health Services Office, 204 S. Hill St., Arvin
  • 9-11 a.m. and 2-4 p.m. Wednesdays from Oct. 4 through Nov. 29, Delano Public Health Services Office, 455 Lexington St., Delano
  • 1-3:30 p.m. Wednesdays from Oct. 4 through Nov. 25, Shafter Public Health Services Office, 329 Central Valley Highway, Shafter
  • 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 18 and Nov. 15, Hyatt Consulting Group Office at Sun Plaza, 6416 Lake Isabella Blvd., Ste. C-1, Lake Isabella
  • 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 19 and Nov. 21, Rosamond Library, 3611 Rosamond Blvd., Rosamond
  • 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 26 and Nov. 30, Taft Public Health Office, 915 N. 10th St., Taft
  • 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Oct. 26 and Nov. 16, Ridgecrest Public Health Office, 400 N. China Lake Blvd., Ridgecrest
