Cremains stolen from Bakersfield Funeral Home
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) —
A family is asking for help to track down missing cremains after they were stolen from the Bakersfield Funeral Home.
Justin Harris was 28 when he passed away on Nov. 11 after an accidental overdose.
The funeral home was burglarized the Friday after Thanksgiving.
Eyewitness News spoke to an employee of the funeral home. They said five cremains were stolen, and the alarm was not set the night of the robbery. The funeral home also said they now keep ashes in a vault, as a result of the break-in.
The Harris family hopes whoever is responsible will have enough humanity to return the ashes, so it won't feel like they're losing their son all over again.
The family has created a GoFundMe page to raise money for a reward, hoping someone will safely return their son.
