Death of a man shot during a fight involving several women has been ruled a homicide
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) -- A 21-year-old man who was shot on Mother's Day during an early morning fight involving several women has been identified as Michael Leon Harris and his death has been ruled a homicide.
Deputies were called to a disturbance in the 700 block of Sterling Rd. on May 12 and found a woman who had been stabbed. While investigating her injuries, they learned a man had been shot and taken to a hospital by private means.
Harris died later that day, but that information wasn't made public until May 18 when the coroner's office ruled his death a homicide.
The case is being investigated by the Kern County Sheriff's Office.
