Deputies find escaped California convict in Oregon
DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ore. -- Douglas County Sheriff's deputies responding to a suspicious vehicle report allegedly found a man who had escaped from a California prison.
Just before 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, Douglas County Emergency Communications received a report of a vehicle in the ditch near the 500 Block of Metz Hill Road in Oakland.
A deputy responded and found the vehicle with nobody in it. After running the license plate number, it was found that the vehicle had been reported stolen that morning out of Stockton, California.
The deputy canvassed the area and located a male walking north on Goodrich Hwy.
The deputy contacted Brian Ray Delsie, 31, and allegedly found the keys to the stolen vehicle on him.
A records check on Delsie revealed that he was wanted as an escaped inmate from the San Joaquin Correctional Facility in California.
Delsie was arrested and transported to the Douglas County Jail without incident.
He was charged by the Sheriff's office with possession of a stolen vehicle and possession of burglary tools.
His bail on those charges is set at $56,250.
