Organizers of Dustin’s Diner, an annual holiday tradition in the Haggin Oaks neighborhood, said Tuesday that they raised nearly $18,000 this year for the Bakersfield Homeless Center.

Dustin’s Diner was started by a pair of neighborhood kids in the early 1990s and continues to this day. Hot chocolate and treats are sold to people cruising through to see the Christmas lights, and the money they raise goes to the shelter.

Dustin’s Diner has raised more than $180,000 over the years.
