Funeral set for Bakersfield Police Sgt. Dennis Moore

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) -- The funeral for Bakersfield Police Sgt. Dennis Moore is 10 a.m. Thursday at Riverlakes Community Church.

The public is invited. Parking will be available on the south side of the church off Hageman Road, as seen in a map below.

Moore died last week of a heart attack he suffered while getting ready for work. He's survived by his wife, three children, parents and sister.

Moore had been with the Bakersfield Police Department for two decades and previously worked as an officer in Arvin.

A law enforcement motorcade will begin at 8 a.m. at Greenlawn Funeral Home on River Boulevard and conclude at the church on Calloway Drive for the funeral. The California Highway Patrol advised there will be traffic delays during the procession on Panorama Drive, Union Avenue, Highway 178, Highway 204, Highway 99, Olive Drive and Calloway Drive.

After the funeral, the Police Department said a small escort will accompany Moore's body to Greenlawn Funeral Home on Panama Lane. There will be no formal service at Greenlawn.
