LGBTQ activist, teacher Weddell to run for Kern County supervisor seat
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) —
Activist and teacher Whitney Weddell is running for a seat on the Kern County Board of Supervisors.
She's running for the seat in the 2nd District, which is currently filled by Zack Scrivner.
Weddell teaches at Nueva High School in Lamont.
She's helped form the Stonewall Democrats of Kern, an LGBTQ club under the Kern County Democratic Party, and is the former chair for the nonprofit group Bakersfield LGBTQ.
"I look forward to a vigorous campaign on the issues affecting the residents of Kern County and in the 2nd District," Weddell said via email.
