High school students learn how to react in a health emergency during a mock outbreak
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) —
The Public Health Department set up a mock Hepatitis A Outbreak for Kern High School students.
During the mock outbreak, they learn how to deal with a health emergency while learning how to identify the source of an outbreak.
In addition, the mock outbreak exposes students to a career in public health.
"How incredible that we get to work with these local youth and show them the career opportunities in Kern County, as well as let them learn a little more about our community and the things that go on and how we as public servants respond to emergencies," said Michelle Corson, Public Information Officer with Public Health.
