Homes near planned Westside Parkway may get sound wall

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) Local officials are taking action after a protest last month by residents over a lack of sound walls being built along a section of the Westside Parkway.

Neighbors expressed concern that the lack of a sound wall could put their families at risk.

Now, Kern County Supervisor David Couch and Bakersfield City Councilman Bob Smith are pushing for a wall for those who live along the portion of the expressway that is still under construction.

They've asked Thomas Roads Improvement Program about the cost of constructing a wall, and TRIP is now consulting with the freeway designer.
