A man who barricaded himself inside a home in northeast Bakersfield on Monday has been taken into custody by Kern County deputies.

A neighbor in the area of El Cerrito Drive and Alta Vista Drive had reported the man inside the home had threatened to kill him, the Sheriff's Office said.

Four shots were then fired from the home towards the neighbor's home.

Deputies arrived and set up a perimeter to keep a safe distance from the home.

After a lengthy standoff, the suspect, identified as 60-year-old Gary Leapley, finally came out on his own and surrendered to deputies.

No one was hurt during the incident.
