Kern County jury convicts gang member of first-degree murder
BAKERSFIELD, Calif.(KBAK/KBFX) —
A Kern County jury on Thursday convicted a gang member of first-degree murder.
Jose Medrano, 23, was convicted for a shooting that happened in Delano in August of last year.
Authorities found 34-year-old Orlando Morales of McFarland dead in his car. They first believed his death was due to a traffic collision, but further investigation showed Morales had died due to a single gunshot wound before the crash, according to the Kern County District Attorney's Office.
The investigation led authorities to the arrest of Medrano.
He faces a sentence of life without the possibility of parole.
