A Kern County jury on Wednesday convicted a man on all counts related to a deadly 2015 collision.

Joselito Meza hit and killed 22-year-old Miguel Angel Aldaco on Buena Vista Road following a night a drinking.

Aldaco was found dead on the median, and Meza made up a story about a carjacking. Meza's car, which had front-end damage, was found in a nearby parking lot.

The Kern County District Attorney's Office said the men were friends who got into a drunken fist fight. Meza then took Aldaco's clothes and phone, and hit Aldaco, who was standing on the median, with his car.

"These were some of the most unusual circumstances we have seen in a vehicular homicide case," District Attorney Lisa Green said in a news release Thursday.

Meza is scheduled to be sentenced next month and faces 15 years in prison, according to the District Attorney's Office.
