Los Angeles Officers Ian Campbell and Karl Hettinger were abducted at gunpoint 55 years ago when two men got the jump on them following a traffic stop in Hollywood. The officers were driven to an onion field in southern Kern County, where Campbell was shot and killed.

Over the weekend, current L.A. Officer Joe Cirrito completed a memorial run, starting at that same onion field where Campbell lost his life and ending in Los Angeles.

Proceeds from the run will help restore the police memorial for fallen officers in downtown L.A.
