Now that the holiday festivities are over, there are plenty of ways to ensure you're environmentally friendly while disposing of your Christmas tree.

The Kern County Public Works Department says there are three options available. For all of them, ensure ornaments, lights and tree stands are removed.

GREEN WASTE CONTAINER

Bakersfield residents can chop up their tree so that it fits completely inside their green waste container at home.

DROP OFF

The Public Works Department says there are 24 drop-off locations throughout Kern County until Jan. 7. That full list is below.

PICK UP

The Public Works Department says Boy Scouts and the Independence High School Band will pick up trees to deliver for recycling for a $10 donation. Call 473-3219 for the Boy Scouts or 246-8706 for the band.
