Taft officers arrested a suspected drunken driver after he lead them on a vehicle pursuit Wednesday.

Around 3 p.m., officers received a call of a person possibly driving under the influence in the area of Airport Road. When officers found the vehicle, they attempted to pull it over, however the driver began to flee, according to the Taft Police Department.

The driver led officers on a pursuit that went from Taft to an area just south of Valley Acres, with the vehicle reaching speeds between 80 mph and 100 mph. The driver, identified as 36-year-old Taft resident David Wilkerson, then turned around and led officers back to Taft.

The vehicle came to a stop in the 300 block of East Woodrow Street.
