Man barricades himself inside motel, makes bomb threat
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) —
A man barricaded himself inside Best Economy Inn & Suites in northwest Bakersfield on Sunday and made a bomb threat, prompting evacuations.
Kern County deputies were called out shortly after 2 p.m. for a call of a man who had barricaded himself inside a room.
When they arrived, the man told deputies he had a bomb, according to the Sheriff's Office.
Deputies called out a bomb squad and evacuated people from that motel and a nearby Motel 6.
Deputies were finally able to arrest the man and take him into custody. They did not find a bomb, and everyone was allowed to head back to their rooms.
