Edel Gonzalez is the first inmate in California to have his life sentence for a crime committed as a youth reduced by a judge who resentenced him to 25 years to life. Gonzalez's attorneys are holding a press conference Wednesday to discuss the case.
Gov. Jerry Brown signed the law last year that lets inmates sentenced when they were juveniles ask judges to reconsider their terms after they serve at least 15 years in prison. California is among 39 states that allow judges to sentence minors to lifetime in prison.
