Man enters pleas for DUI crash that killed retired Kern County firefighter
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) —
A man who is responsible for a crash that killed a retired Kern County firefighter has entered pleas in court.
Earlier this week, Lorenzo Francisco Alonzo pleaded no contest to gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and driving under the influence of alcohol causing bodily injury. Two other felony charges were dismissed.
Alonzo is scheduled to be sentenced next month.
Melvin Eugene McLaughlin, 81, was killed in the August 2016 crash at 7th Standard Road and Golden State Highway.
