Man gets 2 years in prison for child cruelty
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) —
A man was sentenced Wednesday to two years in prison after previously pleading no contest to willful cruelty to a child.
Richard Graham was arrested in 2016 for harming a 1-year-old child left in his care at a motel in Buttonwillow.
"The child was being treated for a fractured skull, and bruising and swelling to the brain, and was in critical condition," Kern County Sheriff's Office spokesman Ray Pruitt said at the time of Graham's arrest.
Pruitt said the mother had brought the child to the hospital in Bakersfield. She informed deputies that she had left her child with Graham, who she called an "acquaintance."
