Man guilty of murdering sleeping woman during burglary
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) A Kern County jury on Friday found a man guilty of first-degree murder in the death of 84-year-old Margy Lou Licastro.
The woman was stabbed to death with a knife from her own kitchen, the district attorney's office said. She was murdered during a burglary, while she slept in her bed.
David Eugene Webster II was found guilty of first-degree murder with a special circumstance. He's slated for sentencing in May and could get life without the possibility of parole.
The victim's 91-year-old husband, Pearl Harbor survivor Joseph Licastro, was awoken by noises around 5 a.m. that day in January 2012 and called 911. He checked in on his wife but simply thought she was still sleeping. Her death wasn't discovered until officers searched the home.
