Man shot while being carjacked on a rural mountain road

BAKERSFIELD, Calif.(KBAK/KBFX) -- A carjacking on a rural mountain road sends one man to the hospital with multiple gunshot wounds.

According to the Kern County Sheriff's Office It happened on Breckenridge Road, 10 miles east of Comanche Drive around 5 p.m. Saturday.

Deputies responding to a reported shooting found a 42- year-old man lying in the roadway.

Investigators believe the victim's car was taken by the suspect or suspects after the shooting.

The victim's vehicle is described as a dark blue, 2006 BWM, California license plate 5UCX757.

The condition of the 42-year-old man was not immediately available, but sheriff's investigators said his injuries were life-threatening.
