Man suspected in fraudulent ATM transactions, card skimming at gas pumps
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) —
Police now say a man suspected of fraudulent ATM transactions in Bakersfield is believed to be conspiring with others throughout the state to steal banking information via card-skimmers installed at gas pumps.
Such skimmers installed at gas pumps can duplicate an ATM card and pin information, police said.
That ATM information is then used to steal money from the victims, police said.
People are urged to regularly check their bank accounts for unauthorized transactions.
Anyone who can provide information helpful to the investigation is asked to call Detective Chris Bagby at (661) 326-3567.
