Bakersfield officially out of drought conditions
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) —
The National Drought Mitigation Center released its weekly update Thursday, which shows Bakersfield classified as "abnormally dry." Parts of Kern County are still considered in a "moderate drought."
This is the first time Bakersfield hasn't been in a drought status since Christmas 2011.
"Our drought lasted five years, one month and two weeks. I am amazed we went from 'exceptional drought' to no drought in only six weeks," Eyewitness News Chief Meteorologist Miles Muzio said.
Muzio warned it's still prudent to conserve to help recharge water resources, even through the "crisis" has ended.
